The Director-General of the Directorate for Justice, Marijana Laković Drašković, stated that the Government of Montenegro and the Ministry of Justice are fully committed to the protection and advancement of LGBTIQ persons in Montenegro. “We have largely completed both the legal and institutional framework for the protection of the rights of LGBT persons. What remains is the adoption of the Law, so that this framework is fully aligned with international standards and European legal principles in this area,” said Laković Drašković. According to her, after the adoption of the Law in the fourth quarter of this year, LGBTIQ persons will have the same rights as members of heterosexual communities.
